Joyce Valerie Rose passed away on Monday May 3, 2021. She was born on August 2, 1960, in Kansas City Missouri, the daughter of John and Marian Rose. She graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School.
Joyce was active in Special Olympics from its inception, competing in many areas including swimming, track and field, and skiing, she won many medals which she was very proud of.
She was a Bat Mitzvah at The Temple, Congregation B’nai Jehudah. Joyce enjoyed being an artist and cooking as well as an amazing variety of TV programs. Joyce was a multifaceted, interesting and unique individual.
She is survived by her mother; brother, Karl Rose (Rachel); sister, Irene King (Galen); nieces- Melaura, Shoshana, Ariel; nephews — Aaron, Seth, Phillip, and Alex; Great Aunt, Estelle Berman and cousins — Manny Berman (Karen), Steve Berman (Judy) and Sandra Berman. She is also survived by her wonderful friends and caretakers at COF Training Services in Ottawa Kansas. Joyce was predeceased by her father and grandparents: Joe and Edith Rose and Phillip and Lena Carroll. Interment was held on May 7, 2021, at Rose Hill Cemetery. The family suggests contributions to Special Olympics or your favorite charity.
