Barbara Lynn Freidberg, 80, of Overland Park, loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away at home on April 14. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care or a charity meaningful to you and your family.
Barbara was born on April 3, 1941 to the late David Minkin and Jean Goldberg Minkin in Kansas City, Missouri. She graduated from Southwest High School in 1959, then attended the University of Oklahoma for two years before marrying the love of her life in 1961. She was a lifelong resident of Kansas City and Overland Park.
Barbara worked in real estate, bookkeeping and retail most of her life. She spent the last 20 years at Chico’s helping women feel well-dressed and confident. She loved the job and had many loyal customers, many of whom became friends.
She loved to read, shop, and talk for hours with her many friends. She was fiercely passionate about her family and their go-to for advice, conversation, consolation, and a good laugh.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Jerry Freidberg, son Scott Freidberg of San Diego, CA, and daughter and son-in-law Mindy Freidberg Gray and Jeff Gray of Chicago, IL. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law Susan and Bill Berk; grandchildren Greer Gaddie, Drew Gaddie, and Avery Gray; and dear family members Lance, Lissa, Monica, and Reece Melber. Barbara was recently blessed to be able to meet her great-grandchildren, Blake and Braeden Murphy.
