Virginia Lee Chaikin, 98, of Leawood, passed away Sunday, Jan. 31, 2021, at Kansas City Hospice House, Kansas City, Missouri. Memorial services were held Wednesday, Feb. 3, at Mount Carmel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Harvesters Community Food Network, 3801 Topping Avenue, Kansas City, MO. 64129.
Virginia was born July 19, 1922, in Kansas City. She graduated from Paseo High School. She volunteered at Menorah Hospital in the gift shop, was a docent at the Nelson Art Gallery, and enjoyed golf, tennis and gardening. She was also a member of Hadassah and the Sisterhood.
Her main focus was family: children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and relatives. Virginia is preceded in death by her parents Anna and Morton Swartz, her husband Meyer Chaikin, her daughter Judith Chaikin and her son Jeffrey Chaikin. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Mike Hoffman; her grandchildren, Seth Chaikin, Adam Chaikin, Megan Hetmanek, Anna Yon, Mark Chaikin and Craig Chaikin; and eight great-grandchildren.
