Miriam Birnbaum, 85, passed away on Dec. 15, 2020. Private graveside services and burial were held at Mount Carmel Cemetery.

Miriam was born in 1935 and lived her entire life in the Kansas City area. She met and married Leibert Birnbaum on Nov. 18, 1956. They had two daughters, Susan and Sharon, who preceded her in death at much too young an age. She loved her family, enjoyed her friends, and together with Leibert lived a good life that included travel and cards and Chiefs football watch parties.

Miriam’s beloved husband Leibert Birnbaum passed away two years ago. She was also predeceased by her two sisters, Shirley Springer and Dorothy Kaufman, and her brother Stan Silverman.

She leaves behind her adored grandchildren, Josh (Harley) Luschen and Hannah Luschen; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great greats, all of whom knew of her love of cooking, others cooking that is, and benefitted from her kind and welcoming nature. Not the least of which is her niece Patti Friedman, who learned what it meant to just enjoy the moment and the power of holding someone’s hand and that a cup of coffee was good any time of the day.

Memorial contributions may be made to any breast cancer charity or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
