Jerry was born on April 7, 1932, and was raised in Kansas City, Missouri. He attended Central High School and was a loyal member of The Temple, Congregation B’nai Jehudah’s Boy Scout Troop # 2. After high school, Jerry worked for several years at First National Bank before serving in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956, mostly stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He also volunteered regularly at the Hadassah Thrift shop and prepared taxes for seniors every year as part of an AARP coordinated program.

Jerry kept busy with his duties as the family handyman as he could fix or re-purpose anything from zippers to electrical appliances and he could create things from scratch. His other hobbies included gardening, bird watching, playing tennis and aerial darts, stamp and coin collecting and traveling.

Jerry was a member of Congregation Beth Shalom, a Hadassah Associate and was a member of the Jewish Community Center from childhood.

Jerry was predeceased by his parents, Josephine and Harry “Abe” Rosenblum, and brother-in-law and good friend Leo Shalinsky, as well as many cousins, aunts and uncles.
