SHIRLEY R. WEINTRAUB GOTTSTEIN — obituary Shirley R. Weintraub Gottstein, 94, was born in Kansas City, Kansas, to Evelyn and Isadore Weintraub. Shirley and her parents owned and operated the Weintraub Bakery for over 40 years. She graduated from Central High School in 1943 and from Kansas City Junior Business College in 1944. She loved to play golf, learning in her 50s while married to her late husband, Jay Gottstein. She loved to travel and dance. She worked for Standard (Amoco) Oil Company for 30 years in the Public and Government Affairs and Law Department. Shirley was a member of Congregation Beth Shalom and its Sisterhood. She was also a member of the Harriet Dubinsky Chapter of City of Hope for more than 40 years serving in various positions for the chapter. She was a member of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, participating in their annual “Walk-A-Thon” and was one of the top fundraisers in the Walk. She was preceded in death by her son, Randal Rashkovsky, in 1997 and her husband Jay Gottstein in 2007. Shirley is survived by her daughter, Sheryl (Kevin) Jordan; her grandson, Kevin Schwab; her granddaughter, Breean (Loren) Ginden; and great-grandchildren, Merrick and Asher Ginden. She also leaves behind her constant and caring companion Bernie Brownstein, and her very best and loyal girlfriend, Bobbi Arenson.
