The “Lower Saxony Woman of the Year” award was presented to Rebbetzin Shterna Sarah Wolff, Chabad Emissary to Hanover, Germany, and Lower Saxony by the Rundblick Niedersachsen, a political journal of the federal state of Lower Saxony.
The award ceremony is held every year by the political journal, Rundblick Niedersachsen. A selection process is held by the newspaper's readers, who are asked to choose their "Person of the Year" from up to 50 candidates who have each previously received the title of "Man or Woman of the Week" during the calendar year.
These candidates are personalities with a public presence and influence in the state and have received the weekly title for their respective contribution, work and dedication to the state.
The award ceremony took place at the Chabad Headquarters in Hanover, where Rebbetzin Shterna Wolff said the following words:
"Thank you for choosing me as ‘Lower Saxony Woman of the Year' and thank you for this important award. This award is not only for me, this award is also for my dear husband, Rabbi Benjamin Wolff, of blessed memory.
“Together we founded the Chabad House in Hanover 17 years ago with the mission and blessing of the Lubavitcher Rebbe - the Rebbe who taught us to love and respect every human being because every human being is created in the image of G-d.
“I know there were many candidates - perhaps more worthy candidates than me. But in the year when Germany celebrates 1700 years of deep-rooted Jewish history, you have chosen someone who proudly represents the Jewish people, the Jewish spirit and the Jewish tradition.
“Jewish tradition teaches us that it does not matter what challenges stand in our way. We never give up. This important award gives me a lot of strength to continue our work for the benefit of the Jewish community in Lower Saxony, for the benefit of the city and the country, and for that I am deeply grateful.
“This award will continue to shape the ongoing momentum of the work for Jewish life in this federal state."
