Jewish Family Services (JFS) is in the midst of its annual “Spread the Love” food campaign — throughout February, JFS is asking for donations of spreadables including peanut butter, jelly, ketchup, honey and other non-perishable items.
“Peanut butter and jelly are familiar staples, but don't forget to include your favorite spreadable, like mustard, ranch or ketchup,” said Jo Hickey, director of pantry partnerships. "These items can help offer 'normalcy' in a time of uncertainty.”
Donors are asked to consider donating honey and other non-perishable items. These items are staples in many households and are popular in the JFS pantries. Drop off donation locations include designated barrels at the Jewish Community Center and the JFS Brookside office.
During “Spread the Love,” JFS hopes to collect 2,500 jars of spreadables to stock its pantry shelves. JFS encourages individuals, businesses, organizations, schools, youth groups and neighborhoods to “spread the love” by hosting a food drive during February.
Local businesses across the Kansas City metro are also participating in “Spread the Love,” including Revocup Coffee (in Leawood, Kansas), Sloop Dental and United Healthcare.
Donors may also purchase items for the food pantry directly through the JFS Pantry Wish List on Amazon (amzn.to/3XH5v7Z) or make a financial contribution to the pantry at jfskc.org/donate.
Those interested in hosting a drive during February can email or call Jo Hickey at (913) 327-8257 to coordinate dates.
