Gather KC, a Jewish, volunteer-led young adult organization, will host its 2024 Chanukah Throwdown, featuring its second competition to determine who makes the best latke in town.
Judges will choose a winner, and spectators and attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy Hanukkah festivities.
The event and competition will be held on Sunday, Dec. 15, at 7 p.m. at Torah Learning Center (8800 W. 103rd St., Overland Park, KS 66212). Early-bird pricing is available until Dec. 1 or until half of all tickets have been sold. A limited-edition t-shirt is also available.
The 2024 Chanukah Throwdown will include a dinner buffet, refreshments, dreidels, drinks and music. Those interested can attend either as part of a latke-making team or as a spectator.
Teams must consist of at least three members. Gather KC will purchase and supply all ingredients. Team members must be at least 13 years old. As of publication, Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy Principal Zohar Flacks and Vaad HaKashruth Director Rabbi Eddie Shapiro have been confirmed as two of the three guest judges.
