Torah Learning Center (TLC) and Gather KC will host artistic events led by guest artist Chani Friedman of The Paintery in Los Angeles.

Three events — one for teens, one for young adults and one for retirees — are planned for Sept. 8 and 9.

Gather KC, a Jewish, volunteer-led young adult organization supported by TLC, will host two events: an afternoon event for teenagers and an evening event for adults. Friedman will guide attendees in creating a resin mezuzah case or using wood burning to customize a breadboard.

Gather KC’s two events will be held on Sunday, Sept. 8, at an Overland Park location yet to be confirmed. The teen event will begin at 1:30 p.m., and the adult event is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. and will include a light dinner of soup, salad and a dessert. Those interested can register at gatherkc.org/crafts.

TLC’s event is part of its Retirees & Recreation program for older adults. Attendees can create resin mezuzah cases and have a light dinner. TLC’s event will be on Monday, Sept. 9, at 5:30 p.m. at their location, 8800 W. 103rd St., Overland Park, KS 66212. Those interested can register at tinyurl.com/336nj9rv.

In addition to leading art experiences for guests in Los Angeles and Las Vegas, Friedman has led Gather KC participants before at a guided painting event in July of 2022.
