Hadassah Greater Kansas City will host a presentation on the symptoms and treatments of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

“PTSD: The Symptoms and Treatments” will be held on Sunday, Aug. 4, at 2:30 p.m. at a local member’s home in Prairie Village near Meadowbrook Park. The address will be provided upon registration.

Dr. Tyler B. Josephs, a psychiatrist in Kansas City, Missouri, will present an overview of PTSD, its symptoms and its treatments. He is affiliated with multiple hospitals in the area, including Kansas City VA Medical Center and University of Kansas Medical Center. Dr. Josephs received his medical degree from the Kansas City University College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Hadassah Great Plains Region President Sharon Star of Springfield, Illinois, will also attend the event and share details about the new Gandel Rehabilitation Center at Hadassah Hospital Mount Scopus in Jerusalem. The facility provides rehabilitation services for both Israel Defense Forces soldiers and civilians. The center offers a host of special treatments along with physical and occupational therapy, physiotherapy, hydrotherapy and respiratory and orthopedic rehabilitation. There are treatments for PTSD and rehabilitation for neurological problems caused by brain, spinal cord and nervous system injuries.

Additionally, a presentation of relaxation exercise techniques will be demonstrated by a local social worker and will conclude the event.

All attendees will be required to sign a Hadassah event participation release form to attend Hadassah in-person events. There will be no exceptions to this policy.
