Jewish Unforgettable Ladies Interested in Eating Together (JULIETs), the Kansas City Jewish community’s newest women’s group, will host a presentation by Shawnee, Kansas, Fire Department Battalion Chief Quentin Hammontree.
The event, scheduled for Sunday, May 19, at 1 p.m. at Congregation Beth Torah (6100 W. 127th St., Overland Park, KS 66209), will feature Chief Hammontree presenting about the daily lives of firefighters. With some fire stations having decades of traditions, Chief Hammontree will discuss firefighter culture, what’s entailed in equipment maintenance and what it takes to be prepared for emergencies. A question and answer period will follow. Attendees should bring their own lunch or snack; JULIETs will provide beverages and paper goods.
Jewish women of all ages (and non-Jewish women with a Jewish spouse) are invited to all JULIETs events; events are free, and no synagogue affiliation is required. For this upcoming event, attendees and guests must reserve a spot by May 15 by emailing JULIETs facilitator Susie Klinock at .
