“Remember This” focuses on the true story of Jan Karski (1914-2000), a Polish Catholic who joined the Polish resistance during World War II, learned what was happening to Polish Jews, saw the Warsaw ghetto and an early Polish camp, and worked to inform the West while there was still time to stop it.
He was able to meet with upper levels of the American and British governments, including President Franklin Roosevelt, Supreme Court Justice Felix Frankfurter and British Prime Minister Anthony Eden. He was captured by the Nazis and tortured, but he escaped to continue his efforts.
Karski lived in the U.S. after the war, teaching at Georgetown University from 1952 until 1992. He posthumously received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from President Barack Obama.
