Jewish Unforgettable Ladies Interested in Eating Together (JULIET) is the Kansas City Jewish community’s newest women’s group. Inspired by Jewish values, the organization is a social and educational group that offers support to the community.
The group, currently facilitated by community member Susie Klinock, is for women of all ages. All Jewish women and non-Jewish wives of Jewish spouses are eligible.
Thanks to sponsorship from Congregation Beth Torah, the first year of JULIET will be free to those interested (membership at Beth Torah is not required to be a member of JULIET). After that time, the organization will evaluate its financial status.
Klinock shared that typical meetings begin at 1 p.m., with a half hour dedicated for lunch and schmoozing. Beverages, paper goods and cutlery will be provided, but each woman is asked to bring their own sack lunch. Following lunch is an hour-long program, which usually includes a guest speaker.
The next JULIET program will take place on Sunday, April 28, at 1 p.m. at Beth Torah (6700 W. 127th St., Overland Park, KS 66209). Jeff Penner, Channel 41 Action News meteorologist, will tell attendees how long-range weather forecasts are made, as well as the local impacts of global warming and how people can combat it. Because this event is during Passover, all lunches brought to the synagogue must be kosher for Passover. Passover desserts will be provided.
Those interested are asked to RSVP by April 24 by emailing Klinock at . She can also be contacted for general JULIET questions.
