Enrollment is now open for full time infant care at The Temple, Congregation B’nai Jehudah Child Development Center, a partnership between The J and B’nai Jehudah.
The Child Development Center at The J and B’nai Jehudah Child Development Center (CDC) recently announced the full-time infant care program at the synagogue. The program’s two classrooms can support up to 18 infants and will be available Monday through Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., at B’nai Jehudah (12320 Nall Ave., Overland Park, KS 66209).
Shikisha Smith, B’nai Jehudah CDC’s site director, looks forward to the expansion, which is an answer to a massive childcare need in the Overland Park, Kansas, area.
“We are looking forward to opening our infant rooms, which we know are critically needed in our area,” Smith said. “We have brought on highly qualified teachers and updated our classrooms to create a warm and welcoming environment for the youngest members of our community.”
Currently, four part-time classrooms are open at the B’nai Jehudah CDC, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. that accommodate children ages 1 through 5. The program was expanded to a five-day format last August, after having been only on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and is housed in the synagogue.
The partnership between The J and B’nai Jehudah began in August 2017 with the shared objective of providing outstanding early learning opportunities for children through pre-kindergarten. The CDC’s play-based learning environment is intended to welcome all children to learn, play and grow at an individualized pace in an environment rooted in Jewish values and traditions.
