In its continuing effort to serve families, Jewish Family Services (JFS), in partnership with Sasone, is presenting “Nurturing Parenting: Growing loving, happy and thriving relationships.”

Sasone, run by Jewish Federation of Greater Kansas City, is the Jewish community’s program to support access to Jewish education for students with special needs.

Designed for parents, teachers, caregivers and others who work closely with children, “Nurturing Parenting” is intended to help participants learn how to positively connect with a child and reduce medical, behavioral, and learning problems for a lifetime.

JFS therapist Kathleen Halling will facilitate the two-session “Nurturing Parenting” program on two consecutive Wednesdays. The two sessions will take place on Jan. 17 and 24, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. The first session’s topic will be “Cultivate Confidence – Understanding your needs and your children’s needs,” and the second’s will be “Grounding Connection – Explore topics and strategies of support, love, and attunement.”

Both sessions will take place in the common area of the Child Development Center, located at The J, (5801 W. 115th St., Overland Park, KS 66211). Sessions are free, and registration is required at bit.ly/nurturingparenting. Participants are not required to attend both sessions.

"Parents, especially during this difficult time, are exceedingly busy, anxious, overwhelmed and distracted, which leads to negative emotions that impact mental health,” said Jodi Perelmuter, JFS family life educator. “It's never too late to learn new tools and make a difference to the most important people in your life."

This program is affiliated with RaisingKC, whose mission is facilitating safe, stable and nurturing relationships that improve and save lives.
