Several high school students in the community recently took part in a teen mental health first aid training put on by KCteen and Jewish Family Services (JFS).
KCteen, an independent Jewish Youth group in Kansas City, and JFS hosted the mental health training in October and November. More training will take place in early 2024.
This three-part training, created by the National Council of Mental Wellbeing, teaches teens how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges among their friends and peers. It is tailored for teens in grades 10-12. Sessions are facilitated by KCteen Directors Rabbi Avremi and Mushky Baron.
The training is held in memory of Michael Keleti.
