Approximately 650 people attended Jewish Family Services’ 120th anniversary celebration in the main ballroom of the Marriott Overland Park.
The event concluded the formal activities celebrating the human service agency’s 120th birthday.
The evening included cocktails, dinner, a live auction and donated musical entertainment by the Jewbie Brothers.
The celebration raised $744,198, 156% of its fundraising goal, to support JFS’ many programs and services that help people meet life’s daily challenges and crises.
Presenting sponsors for the celebration were the Berkley family and Linda and Mike Lyon. Brenda Althouse and Paul Fingersh, and Amy and Peter Shapiro co-chaired the event committee.
During the evening festivities, JFS Executive Director and CEO Don Goldman was honored with the Dr. Phyliss and Robert A. Bernstein Humanitarian Award. Goldman has led JFS for 16 years and will be retiring from the agency this fall. Sandi Fried, a former JFS board president and member of one of the 120th Anniversary Honorary Families, received the Alfred Benjamin Friend of the Family Award for her efforts on behalf of the agency.
