The National Council of Jewish Women of Greater Kansas City (NCJW) held its annual Back to School Store this summer.
In July, clothing and school supplies were provided for 395 kids to help begin a successful school year.
NCJW works with local agencies to identify children from kindergarten through 5th grade who would benefit from new school supplies and winter clothing. Items are specifically purchased for each child.
Volunteers purchased the items, organized them, packed bags and backpacks for each child and assisted the agencies as they picked up their orders.
Agencies said about the event, “This is such an awesome program; Amazing how [NCJW] asked questions about the preferences of the students. It's truly a beautiful sight with all the backpacks shiny and new, lined up and ready to go… the kids were excited to see their new goodies.”
