Organizers for Jewish Culture Fest recently announced three performing artists that will take the stage at this year’s event. The event, presented by Jewish Federation of Greater Kansas City, will come to the Jewish Community Campus on Sunday, Oct. 15.

This year’s talent includes Jewish Americana artist Joe Buchanan, a cappella phenomenon the Maccabeats, and family-favorite kiddie rock artist ShirLaLa. Tickets for Jewish Culture Fest go on sale Friday, June 30, and will be available at jewishculturefest.org

“We are so excited to announce this year’s performing line up for Jewish Culture Fest,” said Sharon Loftspring, Jewish Culture Fest co-chair. “Our aim was to bring artists who would appeal to attendees of all ages, and these performers are sure to get everyone singing and dancing along with them.”

Joe Buchanan

Texas native Joe Buchanan makes country music steeped in Torah and the trials of the human spirit. An exploration of faith ultimately led to Joe’s debut album, “Unbroken,” and since his conversion, Buchanan has toured the country, leading prayer, concerts, and workshops. Buchanan’s music is grounded in the belief that there is always more room at the table. More information about Buchanan or his latest release is available at joebuchananmusic.com

“I think it’s more important than ever to celebrate our diverse culture and to do it with open doors and open hearts,” Buchanan said. “I’m honored to be part of Kansas City’s Jewish Culture Fest and to be sharing some Jewish country music with all the good folks who gather there. It’s been way too long since I’ve been to the Sunflower State.”

The Maccabeats

Originally formed in 2007 as Yeshiva University’s student vocal group, the Maccabeats have entertained and inspired hundreds of audiences worldwide. Using nothing more than their voices, a clean-cut presentation, and Jewish humor, they are able to connect with fans of all backgrounds and ages.

The Maccabeats perform an eclectic array of Jewish, American, and Israeli songs. Their breakthrough piece, “Lecha Dodi,” combines some of the most beloved words of Jewish liturgy with Leonard Cohen’s meaningful and melodic “Hallelujah.” More information about the Maccabeats is available at maccabeats.com

ShirLaLa

ShirLaLa, aka Shira Kline, is a world-renowned “colorful kiddie rocker” for audiences of all ages to connect with. Raised in the world of music and the tradition of Torah, Kline has worked for more than a decade with a diverse array of Jewish communities to enliven rituals, holiday celebrations, and love for Jewish life and prayer. More information about Kline is available at shirlala.com

“What could be better than food, art, and fun?” ShirLaLa said. “We cannot wait to meet you for a high-five, hand-slapping hug fest. All are welcome on this stage, let’s play.”
