Jill Goldstein was installed as president of Congregation Beth Shalom Sisterhood on May 19, 2023, in Beth Shalom’s Goldsmith Hall.
Goldstein grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio, as an active member of the Labor Zionist Movement and lived in Israel from 1970 to 1973. Both her children, Elly and Beth, were born there.
Her family, including her husband, Ted, and children, later moved from St. Louis to Kansas City in 1977. After working in several organizations, she started working for Congregation Beth Shalom in 1986.
Goldstein’s knowledge and expertise in a wide variety of areas led her to hold many positions at Beth Shalom, including the Polsky Religious School administrative assistant, administrative assistant to the executive director, program administrator, administrative assistant to the clergy and b’nai mitzvah coordinator, and mashgiach in the kitchen. She has taught in the Polsky Religious School since 1993.
In Sisterhood, she has served as chair for Bams for Mams and served as education vice president. She volunteers in the gift shop and with the Lechem Committee, as well as with other organizations in the community.
Dini Freed, Elaine Friedman, and Shira Wajcman were outgoing co-presidents, serving from 2021 to 2023. They were praised and honored for their achievements at the installment.
