On March 30, 2023, from 6 to 8 p.m., a candidate forum for the Kansas City, Missouri, City Council race will be held at University Academy in the Helzberg Auditorium, 6801 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO 64131.
The forum is for at-large Districts 3, 4, 5 and 6. The forum is entirely organized by Future Votes KC, a multi-racial group of high school students.
Future Votes KC is a group of students dedicated to voter engagement and informing the public about candidates’ positions on critical issues confronting Kansas City. As of publication, almost all the candidates from Districts 3, 4, 5 and 6 have been confirmed.
Future Votes KC is a cross-state collaboration between three high schools. Students from University Academy and Académie Lafayette in Kansas City, Missouri, and Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy in Overland Park, Kansas, have been social justice partners for several years. Although the majority of the students are not of voting age in the coming election, they are future voters in Kansas City who are working together to make the community a better place.
