Congregations in Kansas City’s Jewish community are helping Jewish Family Services’ Passover meal program, making sure those who are hungry will be able to have a traditional holiday meal.
Members are asked to donate the following items at their congregations: grape juice, matzah ball soup mix, boxes of matzah, baking mixes, matzah cake meal, matzah meal and potato starch. These items may also be dropped off during business hours in designated barrels in the lobby of the Jewish Community Campus (5801 W. 115th St. in Overland Park) or JFS’s Brookside location (425 E. 63rd St. In Kansas City). Please donate items by March 29.
This year, participants will have the opportunity to receive a prepared Passover meal or a kit to prepare items with traditional family recipes.
Each kit will include the items above along with fresh produce and chicken to round out the holiday meal. Approximately 200 clients will be served through the Passover meal program. JFS is grateful for supporters including Liberty Fruit, the Avrum and Clara Feinstein Mazon Fund, the Rabbinical Association of Greater Kansas City, and community donors.
Financial donations can also help the Passover meal program. A $54 donation will provide a family of four with a traditional Passover meal. Donations can be made online at jfskc.org/passover or by mailing a check to JFS, 5801 W. 115th St. Ste 103, Overland Park, KS 66211. Please write “Passover Meals” in the memo line.
JFS is also looking for volunteers to help with delivery of the Passover meal kits on Tuesday, April 4, just prior to the start of the holiday. Volunteers should register at http://bit.ly/3IIK28J. Further information is available by emailing or calling (913) 730-1410.
