For anyone in the community looking for career assistance, Jewish Vocational Services and Jewish Family Services offer a program to help.
Career Skills and Connections is a joint program offering comprehensive job search guidance to professionals in the Kansas City Metro area. It can provide executive coaching and employment assistance to individuals from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds with a variety of work histories and experiences.
The program’s approach is rooted in the principles of strengths-based coaching, which recognizes that each individual has within themselves the answers to how to bring their best self to work. By giving employees and clients an understanding of what can help them do that — by understanding their strengths — they can more easily deliver successful outcomes.
Services include one-on-one career coaching that addresses issues such as building your resume, mastering interviews and creating a compelling LinkedIn profile. Participants will also get access to JVS’ network of local employers. Services are available virtually and in person at the JVS Office.
The coaching services are held in weekly sessions covering topics identified by clients. Services are offered up to two times per week for one-hour sessions over a three-month timeframe. At the 12-week mark, both the coach and client will evaluate the progress made on their Individual Career Plan.
To join the program, individuals must be at least 18 years old, eligible to work in the United States, and have a high school diploma or GED. For more information or to register, those interested can contact Sabrina Simon at or (816) 895-2764.
Career Skills and Connections is a collaborative program between Jewish Vocational Services and Jewish Family Services, funded through Jewish Federation of Greater Kansas City.
