In its continued effort to help people gain food security, Jewish Family Services (JFS) is hosting four upcoming Neighbor Market events to make it convenient for people to drop by for free food and other items.
Partnering with Kanbe’s Markets, Harvesters and other local organizations, JFS will host these drop-by markets at its Brookside location (425 E. 63rd St.), on Fridays Aug. 5 and 19 and Sept. 2 and 16 from 1 to 2 p.m. or until supplies run out. Inventory will change weekly. These Neighbor Market opportunities are open to all who face food challenges regardless of faith, age, culture or lifestyle.
Making food more accessible is part of JFS’ Kesher KC program. The program is called Kesher KC after the Hebrew word for “connection,” which exemplifies the primary goal of the project: connecting individuals and families with the resources they want and need. In addition to providing food, JFS staff and representatives from other organizations will be on hand to connect attendees with helpful resources.
JFS is looking for a few volunteers to help at the markets. Those interested should email .
