To demystify the process of selecting and retaining judges in Kansas and explain the critical role courts play, two members of the state’s highest court will host an open community forum.

Kansas Supreme Court Justice and Congregation Beth Torah member Melissa Standridge, and Chief Justice Marla Luckert, will present an hour-long session at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 14, at Congregation Beth Torah.

The session will also be livestreamed. Attendees will hear the two justices discuss their personal journeys to the bench and the state of the judiciary heading into the fall elections.

The Justices are committed to educating Kansans about our judicial system so that citizens can equip themselves with the facts they need prior to standing at the ballot box. The speakers are also expected to discuss the relationship between the judicial, legislative and executive branches of Kansas government and the state’s Constitution.

After the program, attendees are invited to stay for a light reception to meet the Justices and ask questions.

The entire community is welcome. There is no charge to attend, but RSVPs are strongly recommended at https://bit.ly/JusticesForum.
