Jewish Family Services, in partnership with the Rabbinical Association of Greater Kansas City, helps people in need by hosting community food drives at its two pantry locations.
JFS will hold its contactless community food drive on Sunday, May 15, from 10 a.m. to noon, in the front circle drive of the Jewish Community Campus, 5801 W. 115th St. in Overland Park.
While the donation of all food, household goods and personal care items are appreciated, the most needed items this month include peanut butter, deodorant, cereal, crackers and canned chicken. All items must be unopened and within a year of the “best buy” date.
In addition to the monthly drive, JFS takes donations every Tuesday, noon to 2 p.m., in designated barrels in the front circle drive of the Jewish Community Campus and at 425 E. 63rd Street in Brookside.
JFS also takes donations any weekday during the business hours of the Jewish Community Campus in the front lobby (collection barrels are located just past the reception desk). Those wanting to make a donation at JFS’ Brookside location can do so by appointment by calling (816) 333-1172.
Online shoppers can have their donations shipped directly to JFS by purchasing from the JFS pantry wish list on Amazon. Those interested in information can contact .
The JFS Food Pantry is often the entry point for individuals to benefit from one or more services the agency provides, including social services, mental health counseling and older adult services. JFS provides other services for people facing challenges in everyday life or times of crisis, regardless of faith, age, culture or lifestyle.
