Jewish Community Relations Bureau|AJC is currently accepting applications from high school sophomores, juniors or seniors for the 2022-2023 Kansas City Leaders For Tomorrow cohort that begins in Fall 2022.
Leaders for Tomorrow (LFT), AJC's national innovative education program for high school students, is designed to empower the next generation of young Jewish leaders to advocate on behalf of the Jewish people and Israel.
LFT aims to instill in teens the knowledge, confidence, and passion to serve as positive change-makers among their peers, in their communities and beyond.
LFT is a seven-month-long leadership development program for high school students, grades 10-12. During the 2022-2023 school year, students will meet monthly for interactive, student-centered sessions to learn about and unpack the most pressing issues affecting today’s Jewish teens.
Students in the 2021-2022 cohort have expressed how impactful the program has been.
“LFT has made me a better Jewish advocate,” said Nachman White, a Shawnee Mission South sophomore. “They have educated me in Israel’s history and government and have also educated me on different types of antisemitism. Together I can use skills both to spot and combat antisemitism.”
Audrey Bryant, a sophomore at Olathe East, said, “I have learned so much more about Israel as a whole through LFT. It is inspiring to be in a room full of people with separate Jewish identities and opinions. I will practice using more effective language when combating antisemitism.”
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, and interested students are encouraged to apply quickly before the cohort becomes full. Participants will be selected based on their application and a phone interview. There is no cost to participate.
