The K.I. Young Members Committee is staging a Zillion-Shekel Webathon on Sunday, Feb. 20, from 6 to 9 p.m.

The webathon will be broadcast live on YouTube at youtube.com/channel/UCspkj7XDb4XEWZrG1l9b21g/live with the goal of raising money to benefit the continued growth of K.I. Next and K.I. Kidz programs.

Plans for the webathon are underway. Rabbi Grussgott will be involved. Possible events include a craft demonstration by Bridey Stangler; a cooking segment by Simon Kass, third generation K.I.member and chef; a winemaking segment by Ben Gaeddert, K.I. Next member and owner of Hiatus Wine; and a rendition of Hatikva by children at K.I.

K.I. stresses that none of these events are finalized or guaranteed.

Despite coming into existence at the dawn of a global pandemic, the volunteer committee has launched a number of new programs for adults (K.I. Next) and children (K.I. Kidz), all of which are open to the Jewish community.

For kids, Jewish educator Bridey Stangler leads the flagship K.I. Kidz program every first Shabbat of the month for ages two through 12. Jewish educator Shelley Rissien leads K.I. NinJews for grades K through sixth every second Shabbat of the month. Both programs are on Saturdays at 10 a.m.

For adults, Rabbi's Book Club meets quarterly to discuss a book chosen by Rabbi Moshe Grussgott. The next meeting is on Sunday, Feb. 27, at 10 a.m., to discuss “The Righteous Mind” by Jonathan Haidt.

Despite the pandemic, K.I. Next events in the past year have included a series of virtual Israeli wine tastings, casual dinners on the back patio of the shul, a Jewish astrology class (coinciding with a Chanukah Nerf gun battle for the kids), and more.

Those interested in joining the webathon can tune in and take part by donating at kisyn.org/fundraising/general?fund=General. All donors who provide an address will receive a prize in the mail.
