The community is invited to join Jewish Family Services for a service of spiritual renewal to prepare for the Festival of Lights together. This gathering will take place at 3 p.m., Sunday, November 14, in the Social Hall at Village Shalom, 5500 W. 123rd Street, Overland Park.

Because of the pandemic, the Communitywide Service of Spiritual Renewal will be offered both in-person at Village Shalom and virtually. All participants must wear a mask and participate in a brief COVID-19 screening at check-in.

Participants planning to attend the service in-person should RSVP to . They should include their name, number of guests in their party, and their email address. Details about the service will be sent to them.

During the service, attendees will share in traditional and contemporary prayers, songs and readings of reflection and hope. Rabbi Jonathan Rudnick, Jewish Community Chaplain, and Lezlie Zucker, music coordinator for Congregation Beth Torah, will facilitate the gathering. The Jewish Community Chaplaincy program, housed at Jewish Family Services, sponsors the service.

“I invite all to join us to make your own meaning as part of this experience of Jewish spiritual community,” said Rabbi Rudnick. “Personally, I find this service powerfully connecting. Especially in this season of increasing darkness, we can bring light. We would love to welcome you and anyone you’d like to bring.”

A recording of the service will be posted on the JFS website at www.jfskc.org. For more information, please contact the Chaplaincy program at or call (913) 327-8250.
