The community is invited to prepare for the Festival of Lights together with a service of spiritual renewal.

The communitywide service of spiritual renewal will take place at 3 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 14, in the Social Hall at Village Shalom, 5500 West 123rd St, Overland Park. This expressive and supportive gathering will be offered both in-person at Village Shalom and virtually.

The Jewish Community Chaplaincy program, housed at Jewish Family Services, sponsors the service.

All participants must wear a mask and participate in a brief Covid-19 screening at check-in. A recording of the service will be posted on the JFS website at jfskc.org.

During the service, attendees will share in traditional and contemporary prayers, songs and readings of reflection and hope. Rabbi Jonathan Rudnick, Jewish community chaplain, and Lezlie Zucker, music coordinator for Congregation Beth Torah, will facilitate the gathering.

“I invite all to join us to make your own meaning as part of this experience of Jewish spiritual community, said Rabbi Rudnick. “Personally, I find this service powerfully connecting. Especially in this season of increasing darkness, we can bring light.”

Participants planning to attend the service in-person should RSVP to . Include your name, number of guests in your party, and your email address; details about the service will be sent to you.
