The new pool feature is the final phase of The J’s $13 million expansion, which was envisioned and launched by Michael Staenberg with his lead gift in 2019.
The group of Polsky children, grandchildren, aunts and uncles set the stage for a small and meaningful celebration. Students in The J’s Child Development Center created handmade cards that were handed out to the family, thanking them for the new splash pad and wishing a happy birthday to Larry Polsky, who recently celebrated his 70th birthday. The family then enjoyed cake and popsicles as they gathered around the pool feature.
Also in attendance were capital campaign chair Scott Slabotsky, who also sits on the board of the Polsky Family Supporting Foundation, along with capital honorary co-chair Howard Jacobson and his wife Ro, project manager and J board member Dave Roesler, J president and CEO Jim Sluyter, and J board chair Shanny Morgenstern.
Sluyter spoke about the Polsky family and their generosity, thanking them for their support and ongoing involvement with The J. Larry Silver spoke about how The J community is such an important part of their family and how coming back to The J after the COVID quarantine has been a highlight of their summer. Seeing their friends at the pool and playing in the newly dedicated space makes him proud, he said, and he knows that Norman Polsky, of blessed memory, is smiling down on everyone.
