The Jewish Community Center of Greater Kansas City (“The J”) is excited to partner with the Kansas City Royals to present Jewish Community Night at Kauffman Stadium on July 28. The game begins at 7:10 pm versus the Chicago White Sox.

Jewish Community Night is a themed event which celebrates the Jewish community in Kansas City. Fans will receive a limited edition Mensch on a Bench bobblehead with the purchase of each theme ticket.

“The J is thrilled to be a part of the first-ever Jewish Community Day at Kauffman Stadium,” said Jim Sluyter, president & CEO of The J. “For the Royals to have created this event means so much to the entire Jewish community of Kansas City. It is a privilege to collaborate with the Royals organization to celebrate our Jewish community and to honor families who have contributed so much through their leadership.”

As part of the celebration, The J will be hosting a pre-game kosher tailgate beginning at 5:00 pm in parking lot N at Kauffman Stadium with food from Ellenberg Experience Catering and Food Truck. Choices for the meal include kosher hot dog, hamburger, or portobello sandwich, fries, cookie, and bottled water. The tailgate will be tented with tables and chairs available and will feature a special appearance by Sluggerrr!

“The pre-game tailgate is going to be a blast,” said Stacey Belzer, director of family engagement at The J. “Having Sluggerrr in attendance will definitely knock this event out of the park. There’s room under our tent for everyone – we hope to see many of our friends from the Jewish community come out to celebrate with us at The K.”

In addition to the tailgate and the game, The J has the pleasure of selecting honorees to participate in the evening’s festivities. Howard Jacobson is the Buck O’Neil Legacy Seat honoree for his outstanding service to the Jewish Community in Kansas City.

“I’m so excited to bring our Jewish community together at The K for a fun outdoor activity,” Jacobson said. “The Buck O’Neil Legacy Seat is one of the greatest honors bestowed on those in the Kansas City community and I’m honored to sit in the Buck O’Neil seats as a representative of The J, and the Jewish community as a whole, since The J holds a special place in my heart.”

Aniya Henson, winner of KC SuperStar 2020 – The J’s annual fundraiser, will sing the national anthem before the game. The first pitch will be thrown by Scott Buchbinder and caught by Larry Silver. Scott Slabotsky and Diane Azorsky will be featured in the in-stadium, pre-game interview.

A block of seating has been reserved for the community to enjoy the game together. Tickets can be purchased at thejkc.org/jatthek for $20 per person, which includes the limited edition Mensch on a Bench bobblehead. The tailgate costs $10 per person or $5 for J Members. Parking passes for the game must be purchased separately through the Royals website for $17 per vehicle. Find additional details and ticket information at www.thejkc.org/jatthek.
