Several tickets have already been sold in an online raffle benefiting KU Chabad’s work enhancing Jewish life at the University of Kansas.

All of the proceeds from the $36 tickets will go directly to fund programming; with independent donations covering the cost of the prizes, including a grand prize of $10,000, a second prize of two tickets to Israel and various other prizes as well.

Now more than ever, students are looking for meaning, connection, inspiration, and community.

As KU freshman Brooke Rubin from Northbrook, Illinois shared:  “Starting college during the age of COVID-19 can be really tough. With our parents being so many miles away, Rabbi Zalman and Nechama have become like our surrogate parents, always looking out for us and embracing us with open arms. There is so much going on during my first semester at college, but whenever I come to Chabad I feel safe and secure as we all feel like one family supporting each other.”

While so much in this world still seems to be uncertain, this raffle campaign helps ensure that Chabad can be there to help students in creative, relevant, and meaningful ways.

The theme of this year’s raffle campaign is “Your Ticket Keeps Them Growing,” symbolizing the additional challenges the students need to face in this post-covid era and at a time of heightened antisemitism being felt on college campuses across our country. Each ticket purchased in this raffle directly helps the students continue to grow and stay connected to the community.

“Through its innovative programming, whether it be the Sinai Scholars Society and Jewish U learning programs, the Shabbat dinners and holiday events and so much more, Chabad has really made a great impact in the lives of our daughter and her many friends” said KU parent Simone Roslen of Minneapolis. “Each year we are excited to join this raffle as we recognize the impact it has on the lives of the students.”

Tickets can be acquired online at www.JewhawkRaffle.com, or by calling Chabad at 785-832-8672 or via email at . Participants need not be present at the drawing, which will take place on July 25.
