The Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy board of trustees, administration, faculty and staff are proud to announce the commencement for the Class of 2021 will be held at 7:00 p.m. on May 19, in the White Theatre.
While the ceremony itself is limited attendance due to COVID safety protocols, all are invited to watch the ceremony via livestream at facebook.com/hbhakc. Viewers are encouraged to leave comments of support for graduates on the Facebook feed.
“We are so pleased to be able to give our graduating students the gift of a graduation ceremony in which all who wish can safely attend or watch the event. They have worked so hard, and met the challenges of celebrating their senior year during a pandemic with maturity and grace,” said Todd Clauer, HBHA’s upper school principal.
“This is the best-case scenario for HBHA, and we couldn’t be happier to be able to celebrate the accomplishments of our graduates in person. I thank our staff, students and families for partnering together to make this year’s graduation a memorable event,” said Adam Tilove, HBHA head of school.
“As a graduate of HBHA, and a former parent, whose youngest child graduated last year during the initial months of the pandemic, I am so impressed with what has happened at the school,” said Jeff Goldenberg, HBHA board president. “I have watched HBHA adapt and transition from in-person to distance learning to a hybrid mix of the two, in order to keep students, faculty and families safe. And now, it is with pleasure that I watch HBHA — with the input from our COVID Task Force — begin to cautiously return to in-person events.”
Seniors in the class of 2021 will attend the following postsecondary institutions: Nina Baran, Mount Holyoke College; Anna Clauer, Reed College; Abbie Davis, Loyola University-Chicago; Ilana Fingersh, Northwestern University; Abby Kreisler, Loyola University-Chicago; Nina Schultz, University of Missouri; and Avi Velasquez, Louisiana State University.
“On behalf of the entire staff and faculty, we are so proud of our 2021 graduates. Through HBHA’s individualized college prep and guidance process, our seniors have been very thoughtful in selecting the right fit for themselves. We know they will meet with great success in the years to come,” said Tilove.
