“Fifteen years ago, this would all be science fiction. The fact that we’re doing it and don’t really even think about it anymore is astounding.” These are the sentiments expressed by Dr. Ari Sacher in reference to the Iron Dome, Israel’s mobile all-weather air defense system.
Dr. Sacher is a rocket scientist with more than 20 years of experience developing missiles. He is the primary engineer behind Israel’s Iron Dome Missile Defense System, which is credited with saving thousands of lives during times of rocket fire from Gaza.
In keeping with its efforts to promote Israel advocacy and support on campus, KU Chabad will be hosting a special Zoom event titled “Inside Israel’s Iron Dome,” where Dr. Sacher will give an explosive talk about rocket science. He will provide insight into the world of science and Torah, and help participants understand the incredible miracle of Israel’s survival against all odds.
The event will take place on April 27th at 6:00pm. Registration is required and can be done at www.VirtualKUChabad.com, where the event will be streamed as well.
Dr. Sacher has worked in the design and development of missiles for more than 20 years and has briefed hundreds of U.S. congressional representatives on Israeli missile defense. He has also been a scholar in residence in numerous synagogues in the United States and Canada.
“We are delighted to have Dr. Sacher spend time with our students and community, as sadly today there is so much anti-Israel sentiment on college campuses,” said Rabbi Zalman Tiechtel, co-director of KU Chabad. “Education is key, and the objective of an event like this is to provide a glimpse and better understanding into Israel’s right to defend itself and empower the participants to become advocates for Israel on campus”.
This Israel event is part of KU Chabad’s “Your Israel” program. This program offers each semester Israel awareness events and multiple learning courses designed to dig deeper than the politics on the ground, and provide real answers to today’s most pressing questions related to the holy land.
Junior Dawson Miller said, “Being part of the Your Israel course has given me a whole new perspective on our connection to Israel and why it matters. I am so thankful for this opportunity so I can not only know for myself but also share with fellow students on campus and be an advocate for Israel.”
This event is open to all and is free of charge, thanks to the generous support of donors. Space will be limited so registration is encouraged by visiting www.VirtualKUChabad.com
