Jewish War Veterans (JWV) MO-KAN Post 605 is seeking applications for college scholarships for the 2021-22 academic year.
The Gertrude Pasmanik Scholarship is administered by Post 605 according to the will of Sam Pasmanik, which directs that the funds shall be “used to initiate or further the education of needy or worthy students.”
The scholarships are awarded annually to students who are in or entering college. High school seniors, college students at any level (including graduate school) may apply.
The primary requirement is that the applicant be related to a current or deceased member of Jewish War Veterans MO-Kan Post 605. Any applicant should be prepared to offer documentation that he/she is related to a current or deceased member of the post, if requested by the post scholarship committee.
Interested and eligible applicants should contact Dr. William Adelman, post scholarship chairperson, at for an application.
Applications must be submitted to Dr. Adelman no later than June 30.
JWV MO-Kan Post 605 is active in community service in the Kansas City-Leavenworth area.
Some of its community service programs include providing holiday gifts to hospitalized veterans, special awards to local Boy Scouts troops, assisting local active-duty military personnel and their families, and providing honor guards at local ceremonies.
