The first event is a family picnic and puppet show, presented by The J and Chabad of Leawood, on April 29 at 5 p.m. in The J’s parking lot (the White Theatre circle entrance). The second event is the first gathering of an all new LGBTQIA group for a picnic on April 29 at 5:30 p.m. at Antioch Park in Merriam. This event is part of Jewish Experiences, a collaboration between the Jewish Federation of Greater Kansas City and The J.
About the Family Picnic and Puppet Show
Find a spot in The J’s parking lot and listen to Israeli music, play games and enjoy wildlife photographer Felicia’s look at bugs as part of StoneLion Puppets Backyard Buggin’. Chabad-supervised kosher prepackaged meals are available. The adult dinner is $8 and includes a hot dog in a bun, a bag of chips and coleslaw. The kid meal is $5 and includes a hot dog in a bun, a bag of chips and an applesauce pouch. There also is a $15 fee per family for the puppet show and an activities kit, which includes sidewalk chalk, bubbles and ingredients for s’mores. About the LGBTQIA Picnic and BBQ
This gathering is designed to create Kehillah among the Jewish LGBTQIA community and those that support them. Its aim is to show respect to one another, end under-visibility in the Jewish community and discuss the group’s future. The cost is $12 and includes a picnic dinner.
