Becca Browar named as new site director

The J in partnership with The Temple, Congregation B’nai Jehudah will reopen the B’nai Jehudah Child Development Center (CDC) beginning with the new school year on August 20. Along with the reopening, Becca Browar has been named as the new site director. B’nai Jehudah CDC temporarily closed in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We are excited about resuming our partnership with The Temple, Congregation B’nai Jehudah this fall to so that we can continue to offer amazing educational opportunities for children in a small environment,” said Jim Sluyter, CEO & President of The J. “And, we are excited to have Becca join us in leading the program.”

Browar most recently served as the HR coordinator at Behavioral Health Kansas City, which provides services and support for children with disabilities. Prior to that, she was the autism lead program facilitator at Kids TLC, Inc. She also has served as a lead teacher at the Educare Preschool Program and the Sunnyside Toddler Program at the University of Kansas. She holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Kansas in general studies, where she majored in applied behavioral science with a concentration in early childhood education and intervention.

“I have a passion for supporting children and their families. The J has an outstanding early childhood education program in the CDC, and I am looking forward to being able to extend that to B’nai Jehudah CDC,” said Browar. “I also grew up at the J — from attending the CDC and J camps, to BBYO, to working at Barney Goodman for several summers — so I am thrilled to have an opportunity to give back to the community that raised me!”

B’nai Jehudah CDC and the CDC at The J are enrolling now for spots for August. B’nai Jehudah CDC provides part-time childcare for children ages 1 to 3 on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and for children ages 4 through 5 years of age Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The CDC at The J provides full- and part-time care options for children ages 1 through 5 years of age.

With an emphasis on Jewish values, The J’s early childhood programs are open to children of all faiths and cultures. For more information on both programs, visit TheJKC.org/earlychildhood.
