Join The J’s My Jewish Kitchen and Congregation Beth Torah for “Etgar” Pesach: Cooking Challenge, an interactive “Chopped”-like cooking challenge, 6-7:30 p.m. on March 31 via Zoom.

For the challenge, contestants will be given four mystery ingredients and 45 minutes to cook. The mystery ingredients will not be revealed until the contest starts, which means participants will have to get creative using the Kosher Passover ingredients in their own pantries and refrigerators to incorporate with the four secret ingredients to create a winning dish.

The challenge will be emceed by Stacey Belzer, director of Family Engagement programs at The J, and Aviva Symons, director of Member Engagement with Congregation Beth Torah. Throughout the competition, they will check in with the contestants. They also will take questions from the “studio audience” — those just interested in watching the challenge.

At the end of the competition, each family will be provided about a minute to present their dish, and winners will be selected through voting via Zoom’s chat function. Prizes will be awarded for Best Presentation of the Dish, Most Creative Dish and Dish You Most Want to Try.

For more information and to register, visit thejkc.org/challenge. The cost is $18 per household, which includes the four mystery ingredients. The registration deadline for contestants is March 21. Secret ingredient bag pick-up will occur at The J on March 30 from 5 to 7 p.m. or on March 31 from 10 a.m. to noon. The ingredient bag must remain closed until the event begins.

If you would simply like to view the challenge as part of the “studio audience,” it is free; however, pre-registration is required at thejkc.org/challenge.
