On tap Feb. 18, the Learn Laugh & Love series will feature a half-hour virtual yet interactive program, “The Power of Yoga.” This virtual program, sponsored by Jewish Family Services and The Heritage Center at The J, will take place from 1 to 1:30 p.m. and is open to all. Those who have never practiced yoga before are especially welcome.
Yoga operates on all levels — mental, physical and spiritual. Studies have shown the three are connected and a change in one can effect a change in the others.
Join JFS Therapist and Certified Yoga Instructor Lauren Glass to learn how yoga may help bring calm and mindfulness to your life. Yoga has enormous potential to influence not only mental and physical strength but also empowerment and confidence.
Participants should wear comfy clothing and expect to participate in movement while seated in chairs.
Glass is a licensed clinical social worker in both Kansas and Missouri. She uses evidence-based mindfulness practices, positive self-talk, cognitive behavioral therapy, breathing exercises, yoga and other mind/body-oriented tools and techniques in her practice. Her favorite techniques to use involve breathing, mindful movement and other short meditative practices clients can freely access whenever needed no matter where they may go.
