The Temple, Congregation B’nai Jehudah Sisterhood will hold its Sisterhood Membership Appreciation, Installation and Awards Brunch on Sunday, March 31, at 11 a.m. at the synagogue.

Michelle Scheinkopf, vice president of Social Justice for Women of Reform Judaism (WRJ), will be the keynote speaker.

Barbie Rogoff will be given the Shoshana Award, and both Kathe Stekoll and Susan Himmelstein will receive awards for their service to the Sisterhood.

Scheinkopf will present “The Strong Right Arm: 120 Years of Sisterhood at B’nai Jehudah,” a history of Sisterhood featuring interviews with some of its most impactful members.

“Organized in 1906 as the ‘strong right arm’ of Congregation B’nai Jehudah, Sisterhood has been a vital part of congregational life for more than a century — and was a charter member of the National Federation of Temple Sisterhoods in 1913, now known as Women of Reform Judaism (WRJ),” she said. “Through the voices and stories of its members, this program explores how Sisterhood has evolved over time — adapting to changing lives, responding to the world around us and continuing to create meaningful connections across generations. Together, we’ll reflect on our own journeys: why we joined, why we stay, and what sisterhood means today.”

Since joining the WRJ North American Board in 2013, Scheinkopf has chaired its College Outreach Committee, L’Atid Cohort and Online Programming Committee. She co-chaired the 2024 Fried Women’s Conference in New Orleans and served on the 2025 Rabbi Marla J. Feldman Social Justice Conference Committee. She is also a member of the URJ Commission on Social Action.

Scheinkopf’s social justice work focuses on women’s reproductive health and rights, voting rights, preventing gender-based violence and learning from civil rights history, all grounded in WRJ’s gender- and identity-based lens.

There is no cost for Sisterhood Members, but additional family and friends can pay at bnaijehudah.org/events/sisterhood-membership-appreciation-and-installation by May 29.
