Dr. Scott Eveloff, a retired sleep disorders, critical care and pulmonary physician, recently wrote “The Golem’s Holocaust,” a book that blends history and folklore.
It was released on May 19 and is for sale now.
“The Golem’s Holocaust” is a fictional story about a young Jewish girl, Shayna, who is born from ancient legend and fights to stay alive in Nazi-occupied Europe. Shayna is separated from her family and forced into the brutality of a concentration camp. Her only goal is to survive. Through Shayna’s choices, readers watch her navigate one of the most difficult times in history and see the kind of person she becomes.
Dr. Eveloff said “The Golem’s Holocaust” was written so “readers will be inspired by accounts of Jewish bravery during that time” of history.

In his book, Dr. Eveloff incorporates the Golem, an anthropomorphic creature made of mud or clay to protect Jewish communities. The Golem bonds with Shayna, who learns that survival is not just about enduring torture; it means to stay true to your own identity, have hope and treasure your memories.
Dr. Eveloff is fascinated by historical mysteries, including how the Holocaust could ever have happened. “The Golem’s Holocaust” ties into this interest, and consideration of historical conspiracy theories, the possibility of the supernatural and a dedication to uplifting the persecuted and disadvantaged all led Dr. Eveloff to his current writings.
He is motivated by recollections of his childhood and his late son, Andrew, “whose boundless enthusiasm lives forever like the characters he inspired.”
