On Monday, May 4, the HBHA community gathered in The J social hall to celebrate the retirements of Carol Pfau and Kelly Reichman, marking the close of two extraordinary careers that have shaped countless students and families.

The room was filled with nostalgia as alumni, parents and HBHA staff (past and present) came together to reflect on the lasting impact both women have had on the school. Among those in attendance were fellow retirees, several of whom taught at HBHA for more than 20 years, returning to honor the relationships and shared history built over decades.

For 12 years, Carol Pfau has been a steady and familiar presence at the front desk, welcoming students, families and staff each day with warmth and care. Her role extended far beyond daily operations, and she quickly became a cornerstone of the Lower School experience, known for the personal attention and genuine connection she brought to every interaction.

Kelly Reichman’s impact spans nearly 30 years in the classroom, where she has guided generations of students in developing their artistic skills and creative confidence. Her art room became a space of exploration and expression, where students of all ages were encouraged to take risks, create freely and find joy in the process.

The celebration included heartfelt remarks from students and colleagues, a lively round of “Carol & Kelly trivia” and the presentation of custom HBHA jerseys along with personal parting gifts for each retiree.

It was an afternoon of gratitude, laughter and reflection, honoring two individuals whose contributions have left a lasting imprint on HBHA.
