The Kansas City Community Kollel invites the community to an appreciation and farewell Kiddush honoring its emissaries from Israel, Benny and Tehilla Feldman.
The farewell Kiddush will be held at Congregation Beth Israel Abraham & Voliner on Saturday, June 27, at 12 p.m., following 9 a.m. morning services. The entire community is invited to attend.
“We are so grateful to our many donors around the community for their ongoing support of the Kollel and, in particular, helping us bring the Feldman family to Kansas City,” said Jerry Bernard, interim Kollel president.
The Feldman family arrived in Kansas City in early August 2024 from their home in Efrat, Israel, for a two-year assignment as emissaries under the auspices of The Kansas City Community Kollel in partnership with Torah Mitzion, an Israel-based organization with a global network of community-based initiatives. Benny, Tehilla and their infant son, Ezra, came to Kansas City to establish a community Beit Midrash housed at the JCC.
“Their goals were to teach and interact with all members of the community while promoting Israel, Torah and Jewish heritage,” Bernard said.
Kollel leadership said that during their time in Kansas City, the Feldmans have endeared themselves to many as a result of their individual and combined efforts. Benny and Tehilla Feldman have made a difference in the Kansas City Jewish community by teaching part-time at Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy; offering community-wide programming and lunch-and-learn programs for women; helping infuse Jewish learning and Israel flavor in Ahoovim programs for special needs young Jewish adults; studying Jewish texts with individuals and small groups; and hosting people at their home.
The Feldman family — including its newest addition, 6-month-old Adi — will return to Israel in early August.
“It is our hope,” Bernard said, “that Kansas City — the heart of America — will always have a special place in the Feldmans’ hearts. Help us show our appreciation for the Feldmans’ service to our community by attending the farewell.”
