Through an interactive first-night Seder, planned by students alongside staff, and with daily gatherings, KU Hillel will provide Passover opportunities for students at the University of Kansas. All students are welcome to join the Seder.

“Before I started at KU, Passover was something I did because it was an expectation of me. Now that I’m in college, it’s a personal choice,” said Olivia Brooks, KU junior and social media and marketing intern. “Choosing to celebrate Passover allows me to reconnect with my Jewish identity, and I’m very grateful that Hillel helps me do that.”

Throughout the week, students can get kosher-for-Passover lunches each day, and matzah-pizza ingredients and a pantry stocked with kosher-for-Passover snacks will be available.

This year, Passover will have a larger impact on KU Hillel because of Jenny and John Isenberg, who have agreed to match all gifts made to KU Hillel for Passover up to $5,000.

“Inspired by the student stories, we have committed to matching every gift supporting KU Hillel’s Passover Seders and programs,” the Isenbergs said. “We hope you’ll join us in ensuring every Jewish student who wants a seat at the Seder table has one.”

In addition, Friday, April 3, marks Rock Chalk Day, a day hosted by the University to welcome new and potential Jayhawks to campus. Anyone visiting that day is invited to join for a kosher-for-Passover Shabbat.
