Jewish actress Linda Lavin’s final movie, “One Big Happy Family,” will be screened at local AMC theaters in the Kansas City area next month.

Lavin is known for her role in the 1970s sitcom “Alice” as well as dozens of films, television shows and Broadway shows.

In “One Big Happy Family,” a woman takes a DNA test which upends her life as she is planning her daughter’s bat mitzvah. Lavin plays the role of a Jewish grandmother, and Lisa Brenner plays a fictionalized version of herself. The two go on a comedic journey to find out their family’s history.

This is the last film Lavin acted in; she died due to complications from lung cancer in December of 2024. The film was released posthumously at the Miami Jewish Film Festival.

“One Big Happy Family” will be screened locally between Oct. 3 and 8, with various showtimes at AMC Barrywoods 24 (8101 Roanridge Rd., Kansas City, MO 64151) and AMC Studio 28 (12075 S. Strang Line Rd., Olathe, KS 66062).
