Jewish Unforgettable Ladies Interested in Eating Together (JULIETs) will host Dr. Kathleen Stone of Heart to Heart International (HHI) for a discussion of her experiences helping those in need.
The event will be held on Sunday, Sept. 28, at Congregation Beth Torah (6100 W. 127th St., Overland Park, KS 66209). Attendees should bring their lunch and arrive by 12:15 p.m. to check in so the event can begin promptly.
Dr. Stone, who specializes in obstetrics and gynecology, will recount her experiences with HHI caring for people after hurricanes hit Barbados and Honduras. She also spent a year caring for the unhoused in Kansas City and will discuss the connection between mental illness and becoming unhoused.
HHI seeks to improve healthcare access in the U.S. and around the world by ensuring that quality care is provided equitably in medically under-resourced communities and in disaster situations. HHI has provided humanitarian service in more than 130 countries, has shipped over $3 billion in aid and has logged more than a million volunteer hours. Its new global headquarters and warehouse are located in Lenexa, Kansas.

All Jewish women (and women of other faiths who have a Jewish spouse) are invited to this free event. No synagogue affiliation is required to attend, and attendees should bring their own lunch or snack. Beverages and paper goods will be provided.
