Community members Erwin and Phyllis Abrams have been selected as the honorary hosts for the Johnson County Library Foundation’s (JCLF) Library Lets Loose celebration fundraiser.
The event will be held on Saturday, Sept. 20, at the Central Resource Library in Overland Park, Kansas (9875 W. 87th St., Overland Park, KS 66212).
Supporters of libraries wherever they resided, the Abrams have also been involved with Congregation Beth Shalom for many years.
Erwin Abrams has been an active member and contributor to the JCLF for 14 years. His love of libraries has lasted for more than 80 years — among his earliest memories is being taken to his local library by his brother.
“How vital it is to our community to nurture inquisitiveness, improve literacy and to be part of community,” he told the JCLF. “My wife and I give in order to preserve that child’s sense of awe, that adult’s resource for research, that senior citizen’s place of quiet and safety. We give because strengthening community means strengthening America.”
