Local Hadassah Physicians Council to present program on breast cancer Dr. Scott Sher In observance of Breast Cancer Awareness month, the Hadassah Greater Kansas City Physicians Council will present a webinar, “Advances in Women’s Health 2020,” at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14. This program will be a detailed look at women’s cancer screening including breast cancer screening through diagnosis, treatment and survivorship. The webinar will be moderated by Hadassah National Physicians Council Co-Chair Dr. Stacey Keen, a radiologist in Maryland specializing in breast imaging. The following speakers will be featured: Dr. Christa Balanoff Dr. Scott Sher is a diagnostic radiologist at the Diagnostic Imaging Centers, Greater Kansas City and teaches at the University of Kansas and University of Missouri-Kansas City. Dr. Sher will give an update of Women’s Imaging including mammography with digital tomosynthesis as well as breast ultrasound and MRI. On the subject of cancer screening, Dr. Sher will also discuss CT for lung cancer screening, the lack of good screening for ovarian cancer and the role ultrasound may play in certain genetic conditions. Dr. Christa Balanoff, breast surgical oncologist, University of Kansas Cancer Center and associate program director for the Department of Surgery at the University of Kansas Medical Center, will be discussing “Current Trends in Breast Care,” including the latest surgical advances in the breast and in the axilla. Sabrina Korentager Sabrina Korentager, MSN, RN, BS, CLT-UE, is a registered nurse at the Lymphedema Prevention Clinic, University of Kansas Cancer Center. She will speak about advances in therapy for lymphedema, a condition which can occur following breast cancer treatment. There will be a question and answer session at the end.
